The Volunteer Connection

Our week-long book sale in June certainly kept the Bookstore busy! Thanks to our generous book donors and the extra efforts of sorting-and-shelving volunteers Millie Berger, Warren Bromund, and Frona DeCovnick, and Bookstore Manager Shel Schuster, there were enough great bargains to satisfy all comers. We sold $1125 worth of ½-price books, and our Bookstore staff had a wonderful time reconnecting with book-sale-loving patrons.

Watch for the next one!

Goodbye & Good Luck!

Howard Benjamin, a dedicated Wednesday afternoon Bookstore regular, is moving away. The Benjamins are moving to a Del Webb development in Mount Juliette, Tennessee.

Howard's wife volunteered him to work in the Bookstore, hoping it would rekindle his interest in books. Now Howard is an avid reader. Best wishes and good health in your move, Howard!

Condolences to CeCe

Our condolences go out to a faithful, long-time Friends volunteer: CeCe Mestman. Her husband of over 50 years, Daniel Mestman, died suddenly of a heart attack on Monday, July 25. Just recently, CeCe and Daniel celebrated their 50th anniversary with a wonderful cruise to Alaska.

CeCe has been a volunteer both at our Super Book Sales and in the Bookstore for over a decade. She plans to return to her regular Friday afternoon Bookstore duties soon. Fortunately, she has a great support group of family and friends, including the Friends of the Platt Library, to help in the days ahead.
