Another Great Year in the Used Book Department

Book sales through April 2004 were strong, topping records set in 2002/03 in every one-day sale except September ’03. Apparently, the return of displaced patrons to their newly re-opened branches didn't have the slow-down effect we had anticipated. Total revenue for the year (calculated from the Monday after the April 2003 one-day sale to the April 2004 one-day sale) was $36,600—slightly less than 2003’s total only because we had an extra one-day sale in 2003. This brings sales over the last nine years to a grand $226,000 total.

As you can see from the chart, the one-day (Friday night and Saturday) and daily Bookstore sales raise about equal amounts. This year, the Bookstore averaged almost $360 a week.

Your donations and the hard work of MANY, MANY volunteers have made these efforts successful once again. Congratulations to one and ALL.

Shel Schuster, Bookstore Manager

Thanks for the Gardening Books!

Platt's Staff is especially grateful for the recent large donation of gardening books, many hard-to-obtain classics. And as the librarian in charge of the gardening collection, I want to extend a personal thank you to the donor. Believe me, these are going right up on the shelves for all Platt patrons to enjoy.

Sherry Brent, Adult Librarian
