Calling all deft-fingered elves and patient craftsmen! It's time to make sure all good boys and girls have plenty of kid-priced gifts for their family and friends...and time to have a ball wielding glue guns, glitter, and gumdrops.
Let me know if you'd like to join the project planning session in the Library Multipurpose Room on Friday, November 8 from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. Or simply come and pitch-in at the two work sessions.
And watch for more fundraising events in December. We'll be gift-wrapping at Barnes & Noble again, and plan to have a shopping day at a local market.

It's that time again. The 2003 Entertainment Book is available now in the Friends Bookstore. The San Fernando Valley and Ventura books are priced at $20 each. The Los Angeles edition sells for $30. If you would like a book for any other area, it can be special ordered.
The Entertainment Book offers loads of terrific savings, but this year the values are spectacular. Check out the green section (D). There are 12 coupons (one per month) giving $5 off your Ralph's grocery purchases. This alone is worth $60—a $40 profit over the book cost! It gets better: 12 more monthly coupons from Bristol Farms for an additional $60. Other “dozen” groups of coupons can be found for Longs Drugs, for 50% off carwash & waxes at a local carwash, and $50 off (up to $7 per order) for dry cleaning.
All this—plus the usual hundreds of dollars in savings from an array of restaurants and businesses—make your purchase good sense for you. And it makes good sense for Platt Library. For each book purchased, $3 comes back to the Friends to use for library needs.
