The Volunteer Connection

Bringing excess used book inventory to Platt patrons, (from left) Jesse Goldbaum, Shel Schuster and Millie Berger.

Our surprise Saturday book sale in March wasn't exactly a Super Sale. BUT Bookstore volunteers certainly connected avid book browsers with a larger selection of newly donated books and tapes, bringing our library nearly $250 on the specially discounted materials. We're very grateful to our wonderful book donors for keeping us supplied with so many great titles. Keep'em coming! These “pop” sales benefit everyone.

Note to Major Book Donors

Speaking of generous donations, when you have a large quantity of materials to drop-off, please call ahead to the Bookstore (818 340-9386) or to Harriet or me (listed below). Due to library staff changes, we need to arrange in advance to have someone on hand to help you unload your books. Thanks!

Friends Used Books Are on TV

Harriet Strauss reports: “This is the second year that Platt Library Bookstore books have been purchased to grace a TV set. Recently, Bookstore volunteers Frona DeCovnick and Warren Bromund were pleasantly surprised when the set dresser for the TV series “My Name Is Earl” arrived with her own large crate on wheels and—after Frona and Warren helped her find and pack what she needed—left with it filled to the top. This amounted to 200 Bookstore books!

“Your Bookstore donations find their way to some very intriguing places. PLEASE let me (Harriet) know of any other special places, programs, or centers that books are going when they leave our Bookstore.”
