Membership News

We continue to grow even as we near the close of the current membership year and look forward to the beginning of the 2005–2006 year. The recent addition of the Herson Family Foundation brought our Life Membership total to an all-time high of 70. We appreciate their support, as well as that of the following new members who joined us since the last newsletter: A warm welcome to each of you.

Time to Renew

If you don't renew, how will you know when to come help Pam Bieber, Carol Roseman, and me inflate Birthday balloons—or keep up on all the other delightful Friends events?

Enclosed with this newsletter, you will find a return envelope. We have tried to make the renewal process as quick and easy as possible for you. Simply cut off the membership form on this page and enclose it with your check in the envelope. The page has been designed so that your mailing label appears on the back of the membership form. If you have any change of address, or other pertinent information, you can include that on the front of the form. Otherwise, your membership information will remain as currently shown in our records.

If you renew in this way, it saves Friends the considerable amount of time and expense involved in sending out follow up reminder letters to over 450 members. A number of you have already begun sending in renewals prior to this newsletter, and we greatly appreciate your consideration.

Changing Membership Levels

We are pleased to have you as members at any level. Your support is part of the lifeblood of the Friends, helping us provide both financial and volunteer support for Platt Branch Library. However, if you feel so inclined, we also encourage you to move your membership up to the next level whenever it fits your desires…and of course, your budget. Membership at the Sustaining (or Life) levels offers a special benefit to members. Each year the Friends donate a book to the library for each member at these levels. The Librarians make book selections and take care to honor specific genres or topics you may have requested. A special bookplate is placed at the front of each book indicating that it is being given in your honor. Members are advised each year of the book title selected for them. The letters denoting titles of books chosen for the past membership year are issued each May.

Be a Friend!

Memberships in the Friends of the Platt Library are win-win relationships. Besides providing additional funding for our library, they also give opportunities for new friendships, socializing, and volunteering—as well as community recognition for your support of a worthy cause. If that's not enough incentive, you also get a printed copy of this newsletter in the mail…what an excellent investment!

To become a member, give a membership as a gift, or renew your existing membership, just fill out the form below and click the ‘PRINT’ button. Write a check payable to Friends of the Platt Library and send it along with the printed form to:

Friends of the Platt Library
23600 Victory Boulevard
Woodland Hills, CA 91367

...or bring them to the library in person. Thank you!
