Happy 10th Birthday to Platt!

Hard to believe after waiting so many years for it to be built, but Platt Branch Library will be 10 years old this month. Our birthday party promises to be a fantastic celebration, indoors and out, with activities for all! Bring the children to share in the birthday cake and general festivities. Plan for an extra super Super Book Sale for yourself. And remember, we love to have Friends join the production crew. This celebration is so big—we'll need lots more volunteers than usual.

We've just completed another successful book sale, thanks to all those who volunteered to make it possible. Assisting at our January sale were Barbara Abromovitch, Ed & Millie Berger, Pam Bieber, Ruth & Warren Bromund, Kimmy Chen, Elaine & Sandi Corman, Kathy & Robert Cromar, Tim Culhane, Frona DeCovnick, Lynn & Dan Durbin, Muriel & Sid Eiduson, Faye Faraldo, Anne Fisk, Caryl Frankle, Sharon Gugler, Jesse Goldbaum, Annie Haas, Ellie & Terry Haney, Therese Hearn, Sally Holtz, Darlene Jackson, Pearl Kalechstein, Leatha King, Jeff Koetje, Milton Lebenbom, Richard Lee, Ethel Margolin, Bobbi Mehegan, CeCe Mestman, Harriet Millman, Charlene Montante, Eileen O'Neill, Patricia Peterson, Nancy & John Reeve, Darris Reilly, Carol Roseman, Paula Russo, Don & Shel & Sharon Schuster, Mark Spect, Harriet Strauss, Kathy Van Olinda, Michelle Watts, and Margaret Young.

Any Friends members who would like to volunteer can e-mail us.

Thanks to Our Bookstore Volunteers!

Bookstore volunteers Dorothy Butler (left) and Vivian Estabrook make customers feel welcome.

Platt Branch is fortunate to have an outstanding used bookstore. People come from all over and leave singing its praises. But what would we do without the dedicated Friends who staff our Bookstore all day, 6 days a week? It's this loyal crew that makes profitable the hours Book Sales Manager Shel Schuster and his team spend sorting books—and the convenience for Platt's patrons possible. Although they donate their time without thought of recognition, their value deserves special credit.

So here's an extra THANK YOU for our current “regulars”: Becky Baker, Dorothy Butler, Elaine Corman, Frona & Stan DeCovnick, Muriel Eiduson, Faye Faraldo, Ellie Haney, Ethel Margolin, CeCe Mestman, Ann Olafson, Mary Ann Ostrom, Nancy Reeve, Harriet Strauss, Alex Wagner, and Margaret Young. We also have a tremendous group ready to sub when needed. They, too, are vitally important to the success of the Bookstore.

Right now our regular positions are filled, but we are always looking for people to add to our sub list. You can indicate the days and hours that are convenient for you and can always say no if you have other plans. COME JOIN US!
